LETS DO AN EXAMPLE :D

Okay, let's say 325/5 (three hundred twenty-five divided by 5)
So what it is REALLY asking you is how many TIMES does 5 go into 325...

So lets begin!

Ask yourself:

1. Does 5 go into 3? ( I am saying 3 because its the first #!)
NO!

2. Does 5 go into 32?
YES!
how many times?
the closest you can get is 6, because 6 times 5= 30

3. So keep 6 in mind!

4. Now subtract 30 from 32!

5. you are left with 2!

6. bring down the 5!

7. How many times does 5 go into 25?

5 TIMES!!

8. So your answer is = 65!

because 65 x 5 = 325
GET IT? ;D

the smaller number and divide it by the larger number. An exception is trying to turn a fraction into a decimal. But anyways, for example, let's say the problem is 5 divided by 25. this is how it should go:
1)5 can go into 25 5 times.
2) mark out the 2 of the 25 since five can't go into two.
3)put a 5 in over 25
4)subtract 25 by the total

So u get a Q, say it in your head, for example. 6divide by 2. Put it into a real life situaltion. I have 6 sweets and 2people.
Youtube is great for this stuff, youtube it!
I mean I'm in year9 and I'm crap at multiplication!
Youtubes great!
Long D-
Do it slowly, and remember remember remainders, and O.
Hope that helps abit, youtube it seriously it helped me!

I will do some examples to show the pattern. 4 divided by 2 = 2. 2 goes into 4 two times, so answer is 2. 6 divided by 3 = 2: 3 goes into 6 two times so the answer is 2. 24 divided by 8 = 3: 8 goes into 24 three times, so answer is 3. Hopefully you see the pattern.

The way I learned long division was the bigger number is alway under the house and the smaller one is outside.you can email me km a junior in high schoo fairly good at math. Made B or mA in every class
