1)George needs 6 1/3 feet of lumber to build a bookcase. How many bookcases can he build from 39 feet of lumber?

2)which fraction is bigger? 5/8 or 1/10. 8/25 or 1/3.

for the first one: 39/6.3= 6.19 The highest number of complete bookcases he can make is 6
second: just use the calculator, the answer is 5/8, and 1/3

1 bookcase---------->6 1/3 feet
x bookcases--------->39 feet
--->cross miltiply
---> (39)(1)=(6 1/3)(x)
39= (61/3)(x)
39/6 1/3 = x
x=6.157 bookcases.

2)5/8is the largest number since
1/10 =0.1
1/3 = 0.333
5/8 =0.625
8/25=0.32
you always have to loo at the denominator and numerator that are the closest to each other
