Factoring Algebra Questions? (3)

Same thing except with a positive number...Good luck!......
80=a^2=18a

(I thought it would be a^2-18a-80=0, but I am not sure)

u^2=16u+36

and

17s+s^2=-52

You need to rewrite your first problem. You accidentally used 2 equal signs.

Just bring over the other numbers (I like to keep the leading number positive)
u^2-16u-36=0
and since you have -36 you know you need one negative factor and one positive factor with the sum of -16. The only factors that apply are -18 and 2 so...

(u-18)(u+2)

Same thing except with a positive number...
s^2+17s+52=0
4*13=52
(s+4)(s+13)

Good luck! :)

80+a^2 =18a
a^2 -18a +80 =0
(a -8)(a-10) =0
so a = 8 or 10

u^2=16u+36
u^2 -16u -36 =0
(u -18)(u+2) =0
so u =18 or -2
and

17s+s^2=-52
s^2 +17s +52 = 0
(s +4)(s +13) = 0
so s = -4 or -13
