can someone teach me how to solve it. i have the test tomorrow and its the only problem i need help on.-1.2.u = initial velocity = 0 s= 2000 = 0*t + (1/2)*32*t^22000 = 16*t^2 125 = t^2t = 11.3.......
Sky Diving and Calculus
If and individual falls out of an airplane from a height of 2000 feet and the
parachute fails to open,
1. Determine the position function that defines the height (ft) as a function of
time (sec).
2. Determine the time to ground impact.
3. Determine the velocity at impact in ft/sec.
4. Determine the velocity at impact in mi/hr.

this is one of the practice questions on my test study guide, can someone teach me how to solve it. i have the test tomorrow and its the only problem i need help on.

-
1. s = ut + (1/2)*g*t^2

2. u = initial velocity = 0
s= 2000 = 0*t + (1/2)*32*t^2
2000 = 16*t^2
125 = t^2
t = 11.18 seconds

3. v = u + gt
v = 16*11.18 = 178.88 ft/sec
60mph = 88ft/sec
178.88/88 = x/60 = 121.96 mi/hr
