Science variables help please

here is the experiment: we had a beaker of alcohol and we put strips of paper in the alcohol to see how fast the alcohol would travel up the strip. than we added salt and did the same thing.

what would the independent variable, dependent variable and controlled variable be ?

Also, would this be a controlled experiment?

i think the scientific question would be "Does the salt effect the speed of the alcohol?

independent: Amount of salt
Dependent: How fast the alchohol went up the strip
Control: The alchohol, the strips of paper

dependent variable- paper strip
