make all the x's on one side

y = x^2 - 8x - 20

now plug in 0 for y

x^2 - 8x - 20 = 0

solve for x

factor, and you get

(x - 10)(x+2)

x = 10, -2

the x intercepts are
(10, 0) and (-2, 0)

-
set y = 0 and solve
y + 8x = x^2 − 20
8x = x^2 − 20
x^2 − 8x-20=0
(x-10)(x+2)=0
x=10, or 2
x-intercepts are 10, and 2
