Does a mirror have a color

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-11-24] [Hit: ]
while the other colors are absorbed. So a mirror actually casts back all light, and doesnt really have a color.-Mirrors are made from plate glass, the same as window glass - and it generally has a very slight greenish-gray cast to it. The background is tin and silver with a chemical activator and paint as a protective coating to protect the finish.......
always been curious about this

Technically, no, a true mirror does not have a color.

The color of an object, as we perceive it, is based on what wavelengths of light it reflects. For example, if you have a blue shirt, then what happens is when light is cast onto the shirt, the blue light is reflected back and it is what we see, while the other colors are absorbed. So a mirror actually casts back all light, and doesn't really have a color.

Mirrors are made from plate glass, the same as window glass - and it generally has a very slight greenish-gray cast to it. The background is tin and silver with a chemical activator and paint as a protective coating to protect the finish. So, the mirror's color would appear to be silver, but that's the finish put on glass.

Yes it does. A mirror is actually a greenish color. If you were to place 2 mirrors facing each other and look at one of the mirrors, you will see a seemingly endless amount of mirrors because of the reflection of the two mirrors. But if you look carefully, you will notice that as you look further into the mirror, it starts to give a greenish looking color.
