Is it possible to time travel

Theory is that time slows down as you approach the speed of light but it doesn’t follow logically that you would be projected into the future as a consequence although I’ve actually heard physists saying that you would do but you couldn’t get back to today.

It’s physically no different to being frozen in liquid nitrogen ( it’s been done) for 100 years and being thawed out to find 100 years have gone past in what to you seems like a few hours and with obviously no chance of “returning” to that day 100 years ago when you were frozen. Same with going close to the speed of light, all your molecules have simply slowed down.

Faster than light is held to be impossible but if by some means you did you’d simply see time signals in reverse order, we shouldn’t extrapolate too much and imagine that we’d found the future.

Your other point, simply going into the past changes it because then you’d have two pasts: the original one and the “new” one that included you in it. Also the new past had a future that you came from, the original one didn’t have a future at the time it happened - lots of contradictions.

We talk about going into the past as if it was a future event and talk about the future as if it’s already happened ie a past event, it’s hard to think logically about time but it’s the basic ideas we need to think through for ourselves if we want to really understand it.

You don't have to do anything to travel to the future except live.
