The torque on a coil in a uniform field

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-07-04] [Hit: ]
cos phi(where phi is the angle between the coil and the field).are these two formulae right?also, what is the area in this case, cross sectional or surface?thanks alot.......
my teacher states that
1: torque = BANI . sin theta
2: torque = BANI . cos phi (where phi is the angle between the coil and the field).

B = magnetic flux density
A= area of coil
N = number of turns
I = Current

are these two formulae right?
also, what is the area in this case, cross sectional or surface?
thanks alot.

The torque on a coil in uniform field :
τ = BANI sin ϕ ( ϕ is the angle between the coil and the field
