Ghost Hunters and most other paranormal 'reality' TV shows are produced to attract an audience. Reality shows in general are only loosely based on facts and should not be considered 'documentary' in nature.
The Ghost Hunters program specifically has been called out by their own fans for apparently producing false phenomena. Whether this has actually happened or not is a moot point.
Real psi phenomena does exist, and some of it is quite fascinating. But it is more rare and most people will never encounter anything that dramatic in real life.
