Because mass has an attractive force, called gravity. The more mass the object has, the more gravity. Gravity is the reason the earth and all the other planets orbit the sun, and why the moon orbits the earth. Gravity is also the reason that our solar system (and all the countless others) orbits the center of the galaxy.

There is no 'why' to the existence of the force of gravity; it is simply a property of the universe. Anything with mass seems to attract anything else with mass, and we call this gravity. We can describe how it works, but not why it exists. That's how I understand the thing, anyway. Might be wrong, though.

Everything would be floating the world would not be spining in a circle around the sun.....................................…

We couldn't have existed without it. Nor could the world we live on.
