I borrowed a radiation survey meter to monitor the radiation coming from the cat as well as the litter box.It was indeed mostly gone after about a month.......
Iodine 131I is used in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in the treatment of thyroid disorders. This isotope has a half-life of 8.04 days. What percentage of an initial sample of 131I remains after 31.0 days? Do not enter unit.

0.5 ^ (31.0 / 8.04) = 0.0691

So 6.91% remains after 31 days.

BTW, several years ago I had a cat with an overactive thyroid who received this treatment. I borrowed a radiation survey meter to monitor the radiation coming from the cat as well as the litter box. It was indeed mostly gone after about a month.
