Bears dog-like mammals, but they are not as closely related to raccoons as they are to the seals or sea lions. However, they are more closely related to raccoons than to dogs and foxes. All of the dog-like mammals (bears, seals, otters, raccoons, badgers, weasels, skunks, dogs and foxes) are more closely related to one another than any of them are to the cat-like mammals (cats large and small, civets, hyenas and mongooses).
