Where do atheists think the universe came from at the very start

that could be questioned for as long as technology proves otherwise (if it is possible) it is whether or not a God or many Gods exist. The question itself cannot currently be answered. I dont think it can be answered. If there is one thing with religion that I think is incorrect, it is that religion fully believes an omnipotent being or beings exist. However,......
who put yourself in God's "shoes" and think you have every right to judge people. There's a lot about arrogance and acting like you are God in the Bible. True Christians do NOT judge other people like they are God.

Your friend obviously does not understand physics, although I can't blame him, because he isn't ignorant. M-theory and string-theory are pretty advanced physics. Lots of people don't really understand those theories, including the people who came up with them.

Well definitely not from a man made of magic and a woman made from a man in the magical forest of Eden. I think that is enough to say that Atheist's aren't complete idiots. I know I'd rather believe in something that doesn't sound like a fairy tale, something that makes more sense than a story of a talking snake and the idea that we all share the same 'mother' and 'father'. It'd be incest all over the place O_O

If there was ever a question in the entirety of the universe that even other civilizations, perhaps in the millions or billions, that could be questioned for as long as technology proves otherwise (if it is possible) it is whether or not a God or many Gods exist.

The question itself cannot currently be answered. I don't think it can be answered. If there is one thing with religion that I think is incorrect, it is that religion fully believes an omnipotent being or beings exist. However, if any God would ever want to bring a world in their fold in its entirety, they would rain fire down from the heavens and boil the seas (or just simply show Power that they exist, particularly in a world where media influences everything we hear and see.)
But so far no evidence has come forward, only blind faith. Therefore it is incorrect of religion to assume there is a being out there. You can only hope there is something out there that can intervene when you die. And that is where it primarily starts: Death. Religion is the fear of death, and the fear of the unknown aspects of life. That is the roots of religion, and it still continues.
