How does science differ from religion? Science seeks to answer life, and those unanswered questions around us. Science seeks to further develop us as a species. You want to know why I put my "faith" in science? I do so because science will be the one to save us, if it doesn't doom us, not religion. And while people may argue, as your words said "God starting using the tools he had" to create the universe, the main theme of Religion is not the universe, but ourselves, and our place after death.
That is why I will follow any concrete evidence by science how the universe came to be, when we fully begin to uncover it. Because currently, we have not fully uncovered it to make it conclusive. you've COMPLETELY failed to understand the PROBLEM, havent you... you are CONTENT with not knowing. You are SATISFIED. Science has handed you this enormous body of knowledge, facts and figures, diagrams and explanations and YES there are a few loose ends and unresolved issues still to be tidied up... but you dont WANT to... YOU want to said "goddiit" and leave it at that. That sort of ignorance is offensive. It is an affront to the men and women who lived and labored to provide the knowledge we now have. That attitude was offensive when the church told us the world was flat and it was offensive when the church told us that the earth was the center of the universe and it was offensive when the church told us man could never create life. It is even MORE offensive NOW.
Your atheist friends faith in science is JUSTIFIED because science DOES keep coming up with the answers over time. YOUR mythological god has STOPPED answering our questions. Science teaches us NOT to be ashamed of saying "I dont know yet.... but I'll get back to you".... religion POISONS the mind with a meek acceptance that "God works in mysterious ways."
