The truth about area 51 is that it is one of hundreds of classified regions where the U.S. government carries out classified projects. It is certainly more entertaining to believe that it is dedicated to some dusty specimens from an extraterrestrial invasion, and that in itself is probably what keeps this particular rumor alive. There is no evidence that any such event actually occurred. None. There is plenty of evidence that it did not occur. So, the question is - will you choose to listen to the real evidence, or will you choose to be entertained?

There are most likely no aliens or alien technology there, but because it *is* a secret military base, nobody can (legally) tell you what really is there. The idea of aliens being there is just WAY too implausible for me to believe without a lot of corroborating evidence; better evidence than unreliable UFO reports and faked photographs. Realistic rumors are they are testing new UAVs there.

It's pretty certain that this is where new types of airctraft are tested, such as th F-117 Blackbird, or the B-2 bomber, etc.. These planes were evidently flying years before the public knew about them... which leads me to suspect that with their release into the public//military domain newer and better craft are in the offing., - heh, heh !

Area 51 or Groom Lake, Nevada is adjacent to the atomic test sights where they tested nuclear weapons. The CIA needed a place that was secluded and secure and FLAT. Groom Lake fit the bill.

That is where the CIA and Lockheed developed the U2 Spy Plane and the SR71 Black Bird.

It is still used today by the CIA and the U.S. Air Force to test Drones.
