I kinda like astronomy, and i have thought about the gravitational pull of the moon effecting earth...

.. more people doesnt mean the earth weighs more, and definitely has no observable effect on the moon.Report Abuse-The Earths gravity gives us weight, not the moon.......

The wikipedia article on tidal forces has some good pictures that illustrate this. Why gravity works the way it does - that is something that is still a mystery.

-
The mass of all the people on the earth put together only account for
0.000000000000067 percent - AND, people are made out of materials from the earth ... more people doesn't mean the earth weighs more, and definitely has no observable effect on the moon.

The Earth's gravity gives us weight, not the moon.

The Moon indeed has an effect on some physiological activities in the Earth, such as tidal forces, but our weight is derived from Earth's gravity. Remember that gravity is influenced most by mass and distance. We are far too close to Earth and far too distant from the less massive Moon to have our weights influenced by the latter. Remember, the forces of gravity, especially in the sense that it is applied to non-astronomical objects (such as ourselves) decreases rapidly with distance.
