Would humans die if they landed on the sun?......

Would humans die if they landed on the sun?

-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
William say: The late heroic Solarnaut Marvin J. Stephens answered that question for humanity over a decade ago when, in 2007, a highly secret NASA program sent a lander to the surface of the Sun. Marvin. J. Stephens donned a special spacesuit and exited the lander at 1534 hrs EDT. His famous statement, though less eloquent than Neil Armstrong's "One small step for (a) man..." was indeed memorable. He yelled "Yeeeowwww that is Freaking Hot I think my feet are ... ahhhhhh.... ohhhhhhh... AHHHHHHHHH!" followed by dead air. He was 34 years old and was a volunteer. Cremation was immediate, followed by a short memorial service.
-
Lorenzo Steed say: So the best time to do this is to go at night !
-
Craig say: Yes. The solar winds and the heat would keep the craft from ever reaching the sun too.
-
nineteenthly say: We wouldn't be able to get anywhere near it.
-
NPG Starlett say: Yes. Humans would likely die if they were only a few million miles away from the sun.
-
Clive say: Don't be silly. There isn't any solid surface to land ON. Even if there was, they would burn up even before they got that far. What makes you think any human would survive a temperature of several thousand degrees? Grow up and THINK before you ask dumb questions.
-
Jeffrey K say: There is no surface to land on. It is just a huge ball of hydrogen and helium undergoing nuclear fusion.
-
Ronald 7 say: They would be all incinerated before they even got near it
Completely vapourised
-
rick29148 say: there is NO surface TO land on !!
-
tham153 say: since at 9950F degrees it cannot have a solid surface this is not a rational question
-
frankie say: Ohhh yes
-
Bareback_Monkey say: No, in fact they would be able to build igloos and eat caviar and live happily ever after.
-
The.departed say: We would be vaporized before reaching the sun
-
MARK say: Nothing can land on the Sun because there is nothing solid on which to land.

Any human travelling to the Sun and the craft in which they were travelling would have been vaporised millions of miles away from the Sun.

The Sun is 150 000 000 km from the Earth and it can still burn your skin. Just think what is going to happen the nearer you get to it.
-
John P say: They would die long before they landed on the Sun.
-
Amon say: Landed on the sun, did you read what you wrote before you posted it?
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: They'd likely die before the reached the sun...
-
Second Coming say: Basically, yup.

A lot sooner than touching the "surface", though. It is hot over there.
-
Murzy say: they would die from the heat
-
the internet say: The sun has no actual surface. It is a ball of plasma, gas like. So it would be as if you'd try to land on a huge ball of hot air. Really hot, like 5500°C or 9930 °F hot.
-
Fred say: Our sun is 92,900,000 miles from Earth. Without the Earth's iron core and magnetic poles support of magnetosphere there would be no life on Earth. Outside of the Earth's magnetosphere space is not friendly to life forms. (Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, and Saturn have a magnetosphere).

On your way to the Sun let's say you wanted a brief stop and travel rest. Mercury at Perihelion (closest distance in an elliptical orbit) you would have 69% of the distance traveled behind you on your Sunny trip (I couldn't help myself). As you pull out your Bermuda shorts, sunglasses, and sandals you might think things a bit hot and throw your sunglass out on Mercury's meteoroid battered powder and notice that the solder holding the metal parts liquified before striking the ground, the surface temperatures maximum of 800 F. degrees.

Thinking this was a wasted stop you continue on in your now imaginary craft. If you packed along a 2010 incandescent bulb it's tungsten filament glows at 3,422 C / 6,191 F. You hold the tungsten outside the craft and it begins to glow.

As you approach the Sun's vapor 5,500 C / 9,900 F photosphere . Suddenly it happens! Only 5,000 miles to go and here it comes! It's a Coronal Mass Ejection headed dead on at your imaginary spaceship at 600 miles per second 10 seconds latter your in a 1,000,000 C flare! And the only thing left is ..imagination!
-
Tom S say: A number of problems here, A) no land. B) so hot matter vaporizes. C) gravity at the photosphere of about 28 times that of Earth's surface gravity. D) extreme radiation.
-
Gary say: only in the day. in the night they could land on it.
-
John say: Maybe.
-
wandycakes say: Not if they went at night time.
-
jeff say: the sun is just a big water-free hot tub, a place to enjoy
-
JG say: Unless human beings evolved to the point that they would withstand intense heat and gravity like Superman then yes. People would be killed before they even got there. The intense heat would fry them.
-
Adullah M say: No one of mankind had ever die on the sun surface ,while landing. Then can not say.
-
vikas say: Humans would be die if landed on the sun.
-
ngc7331 say: yep
-
The_Doc_Man say: They would be incinerated by the sun's outer layers of gases long before they ever approached the visible surface.
-
Jon say: ddd
-
Luke say: Not necessarily.

-
frank say: yes off course , we can go near the sun due to its heat.
-
kevin say: you don t die by touching normal cheese so probably not
-
starwars79 say: The Sun is a star; by definition, it is a large ball of brightly burning gasses that has no surface to land on. Hypothetically, if the Sun DID have a surface, humans would burn up long before reaching it as the temp surrounding the Sun reaches upwards of over a million degrees in the corona alone. Short answer: yes, humans would die if they landed on the sun.
-
Bill-M say: Humans would die before they even get close.
There are three things that will kill you.
1. Nuclear Radiation will kill you before you get past Mercury.
2. HEAT from the Sun.
3. And if you do manage to protect yourself from the Radiation and Heat, then the Gravity will kill you.
-
R K say: humans would die before they got anywhere near the sun. you can't land anything on the sun.
-
Randy say: The sun has no surface to land on. One would burn up long before getting to the sun.
-
inclusive_disjunction say: They would die if they got anywhere near the Sun.
-
Variable 46 say: Not if they were wearing SPF 15.

15 zillion, that is.
-
Big Mouth say: I dunno. You should try it and let us know.
-
someg say: Yes - if they went in daytime or in summer.
-
Juliana say: i dont think so, i think we'd be happy bc wed be able to save sooo mch energie
-
Alpha Beta say: They would die well before getting there ... and you can't land on a ball of gas.
-
wobafetty say: We might in the future have the equipment needed to get much closer to the sun but standing on the suns surface is physically impossible. Mercury is 58 million km from the sun and even its having a hard time coping with the heat.
-
Randy say: I would say yes the sun would fry humans like Eggs
-
poldi2 say: They would die long before they got to the sun.
-
? say: Yes
-
ES say: Yes. Even before that we would be dead.
