What is the difference between the 20 amino acids of proteins

i dont get this at all please help

although all of the amino acids contain caroboxly and amino groups, Each of the the 20 amino acids have different R groups, these R groups are like fingerprints, so to speak, they determine which amino acid it is. The R groups are made up of different elements, mostly organic elements.
