Do different types of light (tungsten, energy saving, natural) effect the rate of plant growth

and thanks in advance!-Yes, the Porphyrin ring in chlorophyll absorb certain wavelengths of light. They work best with light within the 450nm and 650nm range. These are blue and red.Green is not absorbed,......
I am wondering whether the type of light will effect how plants grow, for instance is there a difference between a bulb with a filament and natural light, or, energy saving and coloured bulbs. Will they produce different types of light and will the plant grow better in depending on the lights properties (energy/photons)? The more detail as possible the better, and thanks in advance!

Yes, the Porphyrin ring in chlorophyll absorb certain wavelengths of light. They work best with light within the 450nm and 650nm range. These are blue and red. Green is not absorbed, it reflects back (that's why plants are green). The light enters the photosystems I and II and excites the reaction center which gives off electrons that eventually are used to produce ATP and NADPH. Those are used in the light independent phase to create the energy storing molecule Glyceraldhyde - 3 - Phosphate (2 G3Ps can join to make Glucose).
So the more the plant is exposed to light within its optimal ranges, the more ATP & NADPH are made therefor more energy is stored.
Hope this helped

I did a science project on this where i had incandescent, fluorescent, and uva. Fluorescent light gives more blues and greens, and incandescent lights gave more reds. my theory is that plants need more reds to develop the cell walls or it wilts and cuts off the water, killing it. plants need blues to photosynthesis so you need a mix of both for healthy plants
