I have an assignment about bonding and ive been asked to include information on giant covalent structures but I just dont understand.. can anyone help me?

Giant covalent structures are not molecules because they do not have a specific arrangement, their covalent bonds keep extending in 3 dimensions until they make up a crystalline form, like a diamond. Many of the compounds are carbon based, because it forms covalent bonds. Some good links are below, they have pictures of the structures.
