c. How many lines must be decoded for the chip select inputs? Specify the size of the decoder-How many 256 x 4 RAM chips are needed to provide a memory capacity of 4096 bytes?32 chips, you need two 256 x 4 RAM in parallel to provide 256 bytes (256 x 8), 16 of these pairs will provide 4096 bytes of memory.......
Could someone please explain to me how to answer these questions?
How many 256 x 4 RAM chips are needed to provide a memory capacity of 4096 bytes?
a. How many bits will each memory address contain?
b. How many address lines must go to each chip?
c. How many lines must be decoded for the chip select inputs? Specify the size of the decoder

How many 256 x 4 RAM chips are needed to provide a memory capacity of 4096 bytes?
32 chips, you need two 256 x 4 RAM in parallel to provide 256 bytes (256 x 8), 16 of these pairs will provide 4096 bytes of memory.
a.) Each memory address will address two 256 x 4 RAM's so each memory address will access a byte of memory.
b.) 8 memory lines must go to each 256 x 4 RAM
c.) 4096 bytes requires 12 memory lines, 4 memory lines must go to a decoder, The decoder will decode the 4bit input and make 16 chip select outputs for the 16 pairs of 256 x 4 RAM's
