(7 + 4y)^2 for y = -2

?-(7 + 4y)^2 for y = -2?This is called order of operations. You substitute a number for the variable, and then solve the porblem by working from the inside to the outside!(7 + 4y)^2 = -1 squared = -1 * -1 = +1-you have to multiply the 4 and the -2 which would be -8.......
Pretty simple i know but what im asking is this

you see how there's the 4 then the y right next to each other ?? i don't get it do i just add the -2 in like

-42?? or do i multiply the -2 onto the 4 ??

do you understand me ?

like how do i put the -2 in there? how do i put the negative 2 in the y's spot if theirs nothing separating the 4 and the y??

(7 + 4y)^2 for y = -2?
4y means 4 times y

(7 + 4y) means 7 plus (4 * y)

substitute -2 for y

7 + (4 * -2) = 7 + -8 = -1
(7 + 4y) = -1

(7 + 4y)^2 means (7 + 4y) squared

This is called order of operations. You substitute a number for the variable, and then solve the porblem by working from the inside to the outside!

I hope this helps

(7 + 4y)^2 = -1 squared = -1 * -1 = +1

you have to multiply the 4 and the -2 which would be -8. then u add 7 and -8 to get -1 and then u square -1 which is positive 1
