2 Math Questions????

1.) The scale blueprint of a rectangular patio is drawn 1/8 inch to 1 foot. If the patio is 12 feet long, what is the measure of the patio's length on the blueprint?

2.) What value of n makes the following sentence true?
4n = 8 + 2n

1) 1/8 1 ft.

x 12 ft

cross multiply and X=1.5 inches


2) 4n=8+2n
-2n -2n (subtract 2n from both sides)

2n=8

2 (divide both sides by 2 so you can get the variable alone)

n = 4

check: 4(4) = 8+2(4)

it is one 1/8 for every foot and there are 12 feet so multiply 12 by 1/8
12*(1/8)=1.5inches

answer 1.5 inches

To find the value you have to get both terms of n on the same side.
4n=8+2n
subtract 2n from both side
4n-2n=8+2n-2n
2n=8
now get the term by it's self do this by dividing both sides by 2
2n/2=8/2
n=4

answer n=4

1.) 1.5 feet long
2.) n=4
(4*4=8+2*4)

2n=8
n=8/2
=4
