Help me solve this math equation thanks ;)

Bus can hold 50 people
Adults charged $8 each, child $2.50
Bus is full and $196.50 is collected

Find number of children, equation needed.

8A + 2.5 C=196.50 because you charge that much per adult or kiddie and than times the amount you charge the adult or kiddies by the amount of adults or kids riding the bus and when you add the cost together it equals $196.50

A + C = 50 because number of adults and kiddies adds to give 50
use simultaneous equations to find kids

8A + 2.5 C=196.50
A + C = 50 times this one by 2.5 to cancel out C's
2.5A + 2.5C=125

8A + 2.5 C=196.50 minus second equation from first
2.5A + 2.5C=125

5.5A =71.5
A=13
put this number into an earlier equation
A + C = 50
13+C=50
C=37

Let children be y , 2.50y+8(50-y)=196.50 , -5.5y=-203.5 , y=37

That's an expensive bus.
