How to find percentage of a number

I can't remember how to do this so,

The US population is 311,430,000; I have to find out how many of them is 76 percent.

I have no idea how to do this. It's my key component in my essay. Please help.

76% would equal 0.76 in decimal terms. Then multiply 0.76 times 311,430,000 which equals 236,686,800. Hope this helps!

You need to multiply the population by the percentage. For 76%, multiply the population by 0.76 (because 76% as a decimal is 0.76):

really simple. Do this


311,430,000

add a decimal and move it two spaces over from the end

3,114,300.00

Then multiply that number by the percentage

So its

76 * 3,114,300 =

Multiply by 0.76

311,430,000 * .76 = 236.686,800
