Okay this is kinda hard to explain with text so I've taken the initiative and drawn paint pictures.

My objective is to work out the amount of concrete (in cubic meters) of these two skate parts and then add them together. So I'll give you the measurements of the two pictures. Then maybe you can either show me the working out to the answer you give, or tell me how to do it. Thanks.

(1.2m : 4m : 2m : 10cm : 0.8m)

http://tinypic.com/r/dnki6d/7
(2.3m : 2.1 m : 2.1m : 7.3m : 5m : 0.8m)

I know the measurements above don't give much, but in case you can't see them properly, you should be able to match numbers to the ones that look most like them. Thanks in advance.

1) to work out the volume just times the area of one face by the length
the triangle is 3.2m across and 1.1 metres up (just minus the full length and height by the l and h not pat of the triangle so using Pythagoras theorem the hypotenuse is 3.2^2+1.1^2=a^2
area^2 =11.45 a =3.38 plus the area of the rectangle which is (0.8 x 1.2 = 0.96 metres)
3.38+0.96 =3.24 m multiply this by length which equals (3.24 x 2) 6.5 m^3 so your volume is appropriately this

2)
lets pretend the whole thing is a rectangle and minus an imaginary cylinder from it so full rectangle 2.3 x 7.3 x 5=83.95m^3
imaginary cylinder
pi x r^2 x length
pi x(2.1)^2 x 5=69.27m^3
69.27/2 =34.64m^3 because its only half a cylinder
83.95m^3 - 34.64m^3 =49.31 m^3

3) add values together 49.31 m^3 + 6.5 m^3 = 55.81 m^3
