3^2+2= 9+2=

11

f(3) means you should substitute 3 in for the x in the equation:
f(3) = (3)^2 + 2 = 9 + 2 = 11

f(x) = x^2 + 2

substitute 3 in for x and we get

f(3) = 3^2 + 2 = 9+ 2 = 11

That's easy. All you have to do is plug in 3

3^2 + 2
9 + 2
f(3) = 11
