25*D + 1200 ............
=> m = 1200

Substituting the values of k and m in eqn. (1), we have:

C = 0.25*D + 1200 ........(4)

Answers:

(1) The fixed cost of owning the car = m = $1200

(2) The equation relating the total cost to the distance driven is:

C = 0.25*D + 1200

where C is the total cost and D is the distance driven.

(3) Substituting the value 15000 for D in eqn. (4), we have:

C = 0.25*15000 + 1200
=> C = 4950

So the annual cost is $4950 if 15000 km are driven.

-
1)let x = cost per km
let f = fixed cost

f + 10000x = 3700
f + 25000x = 7450

ie 15000x = 3750
x = $0.25/km
f = $1200

2) Total cost, C = 1200 + 0.25d where d is distance driven

3) C = 1200 + 0.25*15000 = $4950

-
1) Fixed cost: 3700 - ((7450-3700)/15000)*10000 = $1200

2) Equation: C(t) = 1200 + [(7450-3700)/15000]t = 1200 + (1/4)t

3) Cost: C(15000) = 1200 + (15000/4) = $4950
