[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-10-07] [Hit: ]
x= -1.4(-1.5) + 3y = 1.-6+3y = 1.3y = 7.y = 2.......
Solve this system by elimination:

4x + 3y = 3/2
3x - 2y = -19/2

Thanks in advance!!!! :-)

-
4x + 3y = 3/2
3x - 2y = -19/2 (original equation)

8x + 6y = 3 (multiplied by 2 to get rid of fraction)
6x -4y = -19 (multiplied by 2 to get rid of fraction)

8x + 6y = 3
9x -6y = -28.5 (multiplied by 3/2)

17x = -25.5 (elimination)
x= -1.5

4(-1.5) + 3y = 1.5 (plug x into first equation)
-6+3y = 1.5
3y = 7.5
y = 2.5
so your solution is (-1.5, 2.5)
Hope it helps!

4x+3y=(3)/(2)

Since 3y does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by subtracting 3y from both sides.
4x=-3y+(3)/(2)

Divide each term in the equation by 4.
(4x)/(4)=-(3y)/(4)+(3)/(2)*(1)/(4)

Simplify the left-hand side of the equation by canceling the common terms.
x=-(3y)/(4)+(3)/(2)*(1)/(4)

Simplify the right-hand side of the equation by simplifying each term.
x=-(3y)/(4)+(3)/(8)

3x-2y=-(19)/(2)

Since -2y does not contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by adding 2y to both sides.
3x=2y-(19)/(2)

Divide each term in the equation by 3.
(3x)/(3)=(2y)/(3)-(19)/(2)*(1)/(3)

Simplify the left-hand side of the equation by canceling the common terms.
x=(2y)/(3)-(19)/(2)*(1)/(3)

Simplify the right-hand side of the equation by simplifying each term.
x=(2y)/(3)-(19)/(6)

multiply 1 by 3 and 2 by 4

we get

12x+9y = 9/2 ........3
12x-8y = -76/2 ........4

subtract 4 from 3

9y -(-8y) = 85/2
17y = 85/2
y = 5/2
substituting y in 1

4x + 15/2 = 3/2
4x = -12/2
x = -6/4 = -3/2
