Draw a circle with points A, B and C. Draw a cord from A to B and another cord from C to B. The measure of angle ABC is 40 degrees and the measure of AC = 12 pi. How do I find the area of the circle?
Thanks!

-
angle AOC at centre = 2(40 deg) = 80 deg
arc AC = 12 pi so cicumference 2(pi) R = (360/80) 12 pi whence R = 27
Area = pi R^2 = pi(27)^2 = 729 pi units^2

angle ABC = 40 degrees
AC on circle is 2 x angle ABC=80 degrees
2 π R = 12π*360/80 => R = 27
S= π R^2 = 729π
