If they both leave at 12 oclock, what time will they pass eachother?Even if you dont know the answer, like how would you set it up? My math teacher said to use the formula distance= rate x time.x=3-6 oclock.......
Ok so the problem is, there are 2 trains that leave from stations 474 miles apart. One is going 76 mph, the other i going 82 mph. If they both leave at 12 o'clock, what time will they pass eachother?
Even if you don't know the answer, like how would you set it up? My math teacher said to use the formula distance= rate x time.

since the meet time for each is the same
x=time
x(76+82)=474
158x=474
x=3

6 o'clock. You average the rate (79) then you use your formula set up as distance divided by rate = time. Fill in the blanks (474 divided by 79 = 6) The unit for 6 will be hours. So 6 hours + 12o'clock = 6 o'clock. Hope that I helped. :)
