What are some Math & Music relationships

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-12-12] [Hit: ]
for example, if A above middle C is 440 hz (which is the official standard) the B-flat immediately above it is 440 hz times the twelfth root of 2, or approximately 466.16 hz.......
I need some ideas for math and music comparisons, and also a quick and short summary of how math and music are related. Thanks!

The ratio of the frequencies of adjacent pitches in the equal-temperament system used to tune pianos, guitars, and other instruments today is always the twelfth root of 2. So, for example, if A above middle C is 440 hz (which is the official standard) the B-flat immediately above it is 440 hz times the twelfth root of 2, or approximately 466.16 hz.
