Can you please help me with this geometry word problem

A piece of wire 12 in. long is bent to form a right triangle in which the shortest side is 2 in. Find the lengths of the other two sides.

Let hypotenuse be H. We have
H^2 = (10-H)^2 + 2^2 or
H^2 - 4 = 100 +H^2 -20H or
20H = 104 or H = 5.2 in and other side is 4.8 in

let one side is x
and another side is 12-2-x = 10-x

using pythagoras theorem

(10-x)^2= x^2 + 2^2
100 - 20x = 4

x=24/5
