-48x^2 + 24x = 3

-48x^2 + 24x - 3 = 0
48x^2 - 24x + 3 = 0

3(16x^2 - 8x + 1) = 0

3(4x-1)(4x+1) = 0

x = 1/4

- 12x^2 + 6x = 0.75

multiply through by (- 4/3)

16x^2 - 8x = - 1

16x^2 - 8x + 1 = 0

perfect square trinomial...

(4x - 1)^2 = 0

x = 1/4 or 0.25

check in the original equation...

divide by 3 each side 16x^2-8x-1=0 use quadratic formula to solve this
