I need help.....m = − 3/2 , b = 4

Graphing 3/2 you would go three up and 2 right. But graphing -3/2 youd go three down and 2 left.the x tells you how many times to do this. If x was say.........
i know how to graph this but is the -3/2 the same as positive 3/2?

No. :)

the equation for a line is y = mx + b.

the m is the slope of the line and the b is the y-intercept.

So you would start to graph at y = 4 because there's where the line "intercepts" the y axis or the y-intercept.

The reason -3/2 and 3/2 can't be the same is because the negative sign gives direction.

Graphing 3/2 you would go three up and 2 right.

But graphing -3/2 you'd go three down and 2 left.

the x tells you how many times to do this. If x was say... 2.

Then you'd do 3 down 2 left. Then from the end point 3 down and 2 left.

I hope this clarifies it for you :)

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Shanii you're wrong because if it's negative you have to reverse both sides :) not just the top and bottom.

No, it's the opposite. So instead of going from left to right, bottom to op, it goes left to right, top to bottom. That's assuming by m you do mean the gradient.

-
No.
3/2 increases as x increases
-3/2 means it goes down as x increases.
If you know how to graph it, then you should be seeing the difference.

No.
3/2 increases as x increases
-3/2 means it goes down as x increases.
