Its probably a medication jar (possibly for a sample). (its a bit hard to tell from the pic). Collecting older (and its fairly new in relationship to when Merck became MSD etc). medicine containers is a niche. The best idea is to go on ebay and go into the antique medical bottle section and look around. Something like that may go for $3 or you may be a bit luckier.
