If I've opened a bottle of water and unfinished it the next day the water is bitter and eggy and smells rancid. Why does it go bad so quickly? Thanks :)

Some natural spring water is eggy and nasty to start with (full of sulphur compounds) and I can't think why people drink it. (e.g. various hot springs promoted as "natural cures" for hundreds of years)

Tap water often has small amounts of chlorine to kill bacteria, so it may last longer.

Heat get traps in the bottle and melts bits of the plastic. The sent that you're smelling is buring plastic which is mixed into you water. This isn't safe to drink.

-
Once open, bacteria and other nasty things go in there at a rapid rate.

Water lasts a really long time. What kind of water are you drinking?
