I recently watched an episode of Ghost Adventures for the first time and noticed them using a rather interesting tool. It was some sort of a contraption that supposedly ghosts were able to communicate through. Through some minimal internet research, I discovered a device that does something similar using white noise (static). However, I think this is a different device. The device in the episode I saw had no static, only an artificial voice.
If this helps, I don't know the episode this device was used as I only caught the last 20 minutes or so. However, in the episode the group was about to leave a room when the device said something to stop them (I think it said "turn" but I can't remember for sure). It then said "upstairs" and the team headed upstairs immediately but couldn't find anything.
If you can tell me what this device is called, perhaps with a link to a website about this device, I would greatly appreciate it.

It is most likely a "Franks Box" that enables different channels to scan and somehow they allow in the voice of a possible spirit.

Hmm I don't watch ghost adventures but I wouldn't put much stock in device that lets you communicate with the dead in this manner. They probably used this device to and action to an otherwise dull episode.
I would spend more money and a good mic that can pick up small sounds and a good recorder, if the dead want to communicate with you they'll find a way, but its often so subtle you'll hardly notice it. So keep your eyes and hears open.
