Calculate the resultant of a horizontal vector with a magnitude of 4 units and a vertical vector with a magnitude of 3 units.

direction° (from horizontal)

This is identical to the previous question I answered two seconds ago.

Pythagoras gives the magnitude = sqrt(3^2+4^2)=5

The angle is found using tangent.
tan( theta) = 3/4
theta= atan(3/4) = 37 degrees measured from the horizontal.

Scalar: by trigonometry, H = Sqrt[3^2 = 4^2]. No calculator needed here- this is a 3:4:5 right triangle; the answer is 5 units at an angle of 36.9 degrees from the horizontal..

By R = √[X^2+Y^2]
=>R = √[(4)^2 + (3)^2]
=>R = 5 units
=>By By tanθ = 3/4 = 0.75 = tan37*
=>θ = 37*(from horizontal)
