A Scooter and a Lori are moving with the same speed. Which one requires greater force to stop? Explain.

Here take change in momentum is the concept.even though if same capacity brake used both will stop but distance covered or in other words time taken more.As a mechanical engineer we design heavy breaks to stop a Lori than a Scooter, in same period of time.-A Lory obviously,so mass will be more,......
Thanking you!

If by Lori, you mean truck then it will require greater force to stop.
The phenomenon which works here is Momentum.
Momentum=Mass x Acceleration

So, even if both the objects are at same speed, the mass is different and hence the heavier one will require greater force to stop.

Data in-sufficient

Please be clear, scooter needs more force in sudden stop compared to stop a Lori by long period of time.

Its a component of acceleration which is a function of time and velocity, Here take change in momentum is the concept.

even though if same capacity brake used both will stop but distance covered or in other words time taken more.

As a mechanical engineer we design heavy breaks to stop a Lori than a Scooter, in same period of time.

A Lory obviously,Because its momentum is greater than that of a scooter momentum = m x v
so mass will be more,momentum will be more and of course QUANTITY OF MOTION WILL BE GREATER...

the one with the greater mass (lori) supposing that you will take the same time to stop both of them

F=[(delta)mv]/delta(t)
force=change in momentem/change in time.
