08/5.09) = 31.......
Here is the problem:

In a local bar, a customer slides an empty beer mug down the counter for a refill. The height of the counter is 1.32 m. The mug slides off the counter and strikes the floor 1.60 m from the base of the counter.

(a) With what velocity did the mug leave the counter?
__________________m/s

(b) What was the direction of the mug's velocity just before it hit the floor?
___________________° (below the horizontal)

If you could show me the equations used that would be great.

First how long does it take it to fall 1.32 m
t = √(2h/g) = 0.519 sec
how fast was it moving to reach 1.6 m in that time
v = 1.6m / 0.519s = 3.08 m/s (a)

What was it's horizontal velocity on landing?
v = √(2g•1.32) = 5.09 m/s
we know the vertical velocity is 3.08 m/s
so the angle θ = arctan(3.08/5.09) = 31.2º
