I was hoping someone might be able to identify this moth for me please. I've tried looking up moth identification sites to no avail. Thanks for any info or help.

Garden tiger moth. There are lots of images on google.

looking at the wing spots they are totally different on the Nevada one. There is some variation of pattern within species, e.g. linked image, but the garden variety more closely matches the pattern than the Nevada one.

its the furry headed bird moth an endangered species and is illegal to disturb, catch or hold these moths due to the fact they are weakened by the bacteria on our body. My advice as a scientist is to put it back where you found him.
