Will Earth ever throw itself out of the solar system

Comets and asteroids are the only objects that could swing by close enough to a planet and get a sling shot effect that could lob them off, but they can do that only because their orbits are very elliptic already and that they have comparatively low mass (compared with planets).-Hypothetically, if the Sun disappeared, each planet, dwarf,......

Losing its grip???

How?

There is no mechanism in the solar system that can transfer enough energy to the Earth to have it reach escape velocity from the Sun.

The same applies to the other planets as well. Comets and asteroids are the only objects that could swing by close enough to a planet and get a sling shot effect that could lob them off, but they can do that only because their orbits are very elliptic already and that they have comparatively low mass (compared with planets).

Hypothetically, if the Sun disappeared, each planet, dwarf, planet, asteroid, comet, and piece of dust that is orbiting the Sun right now would take off on a straight line trajectory into space tangent to its orbit at the time that the Sun disappeared. Whether this would happen instantaneously or not is being investigated. part of that investigation is the search for gravitons that is currently going on at many linear accelerators right now, but not for much longer at the Fermi Accelerator in Illinois. It is being moth-balled in September because of lack of fund to pay the salaries of the scientists and staff . This is part of national federal cut-backs that the Republicans are forcing onto President Obama.

This can't happen IRL. It would violate many laws of physics, especially the conservation of matter energy, and momentum. No, it can't happen in ANY planetary system, The ONLY way it can happen is if something with enough mass and velocity impacts a planet or dwarf planet and changes it's orbit enough over time that the orbit of that celestial body becomes parabolic or hyperbolic and it "thrown" out of the planetary system. A number of multiple impacts by massive celestial bodies can do this as well.

You really should download this program and play with it for at least several hours or more. It will teach you several basic laws of physics. It's freeware.
