Do you believe in life on other planets? Why or why not......

Do you believe in life on other planets?
Why or why not
-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
KennyB say: Carl Sagan once said, "If we are the only intelligent life in the universe, wouldn't that be a waste of space?"
-
roberto say: sehen ist glauben
nless a baldy lands in the intergalactic buzzmobile
& asks where are the nearest liquor & cig stores,,I remain a doubter
-
say: yes. because the planets in our solar system are the the only planets and if there are planets in our solar system and we are on a planet there has to be more
-
Adullah M say: Since I can not fathom the reason of having life similar to human being on other planets.
-
tarun say: yes I can believe of that kind of thing. It happens.
-
Ronald 7 say: I do believe in life, whatever its form exist within our own Solar System
There is so much Ice everywhere
And below much of the ice, Water
Where there is water the is the possibility
Even Pluto has Water Ice
As for our Galaxy, and/ or our Universe
Absence of Proof does not mean Proof of Absence
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: I certainly believe in the possibility... With an estimated *trillion* worlds in the Milky Way galaxy alone, I have to think at least a very few are Earth-like, with life (and intelligence) on them...
But - that's just an opinion... and, it could turn out to be wrong. But I'd be more surprised if we were alone in the universe. Or, even in just this galaxy.
-
az_lender say: It is likely that life exists, or has existed, on other planets. The chance of our making discernible contact with other life-forms is very small, however. We have been exploring Mars for a while and have not found evidence of present or past life there; which suggests that life is not trivially common. If life exists on planets circling other stars, we would perhaps get only indirect evidence of it, such as described in Eric Gaidos's 2017 paper (in the journal Mon. Not. Roy. Astr. Soc.) about an artificial starshade, or the 2001 paper of Gerstell, Francisco, et al. (in the journal Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci.) about synthesizing peculiar molecules to engineer an atmosphere.
-
Poseidon say: I wish I had a dollar for every time this has been asked on this category.

Consider our home, the Milky Way Galaxy. There are at least 10 billion Stars in this Galaxy but there could be as many as 10 times that. This means there will be billions of Planets and Moons orbiting those Stars.

If we consider this is only ONE Galaxy out of billions of them throughout the Universe there will be trillions of Planets and Moons orbiting the Stars within those Galaxies I believe it is extremely naïve of anyone thinking that the Earth is the only Planet capable of and actually sustaining life.

I personally am convinced the Universe is absolutely teeming with life in varying stages of evolution from life just swimming around in the Primordial Soup, as we once did, to lifeforms far, far superior to us in both intelligence and technology.

I also believe that it is extremely likely that the Milky Way has plenty of life dotted around it.

Paula say: Yes.
Your question uses the word "believe"
In the context of believing something with no evidence.
Except that there is one piece of evidence -- we exist.
And we have determined that planets do exist orbiting other stars.
So it is reasonable to think that there is life on some of those planets.

But so far we have no evidence that other life does exist.
-
Jeffrey K say: There are half a trillion stars in our galaxy. Probably several trillion planets. And there are a trillion galaxies that we know of. In all of that, it seems unlikely that life only evolved on one little planet.
-
KennyB say: Carl Sagan once said, "If we are the only intelligent life in the universe, wouldn't that be a waste of space?"
-
james say: With as many planets as there are. Has to be other life somewere on them
-
Sven say: Let’s probe Uranus to find out
-
William say: It would be awfully conceited of Us to think We are the only beings in the Universe . There are simply too many possibilities . The more We learn about the Universe the greater the possibilities .
-
Acetek say: There is no reason to think that we are the only life in a Universe of Trillions of galaxies.
-
someg say: Of course not. No Santa Claus, Jesus, Superman, aliens or zombies. There is just this planet.
-
Math say: The answer is that as of today we do not know for sure. However the universe is extremely large with trillions of galaxies and planets.

From Earth we have very limited capability to see far enough. It is possible there could be but then again, no way to know.
-
starpc11 say: Life is abundant in the universe it might not be as humans or have the same atmosphere as earth, might be some form of life on our gas giant planets, since we haven't completely explore every planet in our solar system
-
Roger the Mole say: No, because there is no observed evidence for it.
