.. Cancer results as a mutation in the DNA sequence and then the cell can no longer control itself and it ignores checkpoints (there are checkpoint where the cell makes sure its ok before it goes through mitosis if its not ok it goes under Apoptosis aka cell death) There is the problem with cancer cells, they ignore the checkpoint and they go through mitosis over and over again and they dont ever go under ApoptosisOk I dont know much about biotechnology but im guessing your asking about embryonic stem cells? ok first there are multiple types of stem cells, there are adult stem cells (ASC) and embryonic stem cells (ESC).......

Lamarck and Darwin's Evolutionary Theories:
Ok Lamarck Believed in Evolution via Acquired Traits, that is traits acquired through a species lifetime can be passed on to the next generation, (people usually relate this theory back to giraffe's necks growing to reach the top of the trees and then that trait is then passed on)
Darwin believed in evolution via Natural Selection - species will be removed from a population if they were not "fit" and those that are fit will survive and will reproduce... darwin also talks about how favorable variation will be kept in the population and unfavorable variation will be removed (so if there is some random mutation and if this variation makes the species more fit, it will be kept in the population to be passed on... but if it's not favorable it will be removed)

Mitosis and Cancer...
Cancer results as a mutation in the DNA sequence and then the cell can no longer control itself and it ignores checkpoints (there are "checkpoint" where the cell makes sure it's ok before it goes through mitosis if it's not ok it goes under Apoptosis aka cell death) There is the problem with cancer cells, they ignore the checkpoint and they go through mitosis over and over again and they don't ever go under Apoptosis

Ok I don't know much about biotechnology but i'm guessing your asking about embryonic stem cells? ok first there are multiple types of stem cells, there are adult stem cells (ASC) and embryonic stem cells (ESC)... ASC are multipotent and are very limited in what they can produce/become; ESC are pluripotent and are unlimited in what they can become, and these are what they want to use to try to cure diseases b/c of that unlimited capability

Cancer is basically uncontrollable cellular division- so it would be a group of cells that go through the cell cycle (mitosis) unchecked. Normally, there are checks throughout the cycle but cancer turns them all to "GO!".

Stem Cells are undifferentiated cells- they aren't a specific type yet. So, in biotechnology, these cells can be programed to turn into something, such as a specific tissue type or even a type of organ.

Never heard of Lamarck ;) sorry! I would look it up, but I am sure you can also!

cancer is when mitosis get out of control and speed up.

i still dont get the darwin thing so i cant help u on it :(
