Does cells have memory

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-05-20] [Hit: ]
Memory T cells comprise two subtypes: central memory T cells (TCM cells) and effector memory T cells (TEM cells). Memory cells may be either CD4+ or CD8+.......
Right, I bumped into a subject about if cells have memories.
I remember my biology teacher told me that there are cells somewhere around our belly, and very single cell has a memory that has been heritages by our ancestors. My teacher wasn't sure what the cells were called, but he thought it may be the abbreviation ''G.E''
Unfortunately, I can't find anything about G.E other than memory cards for phones.

So I want to know if anyone knows about these cells and what they're called.

Thanks in advance.

Sure cells have memories. You can argue that the memories are stored in the genes where daughter cells will behave the same as the parent given that there are no mutations and there genes are the same.

But also, T-cells have memory...

Memory
Memory T cells are a subset of antigen-specific T cells that persist long-term after an infection has resolved. They quickly expand to large numbers of effector T cells upon re-exposure to their cognate antigen, thus providing the immune system with "memory" against past infections. Memory T cells comprise two subtypes: central memory T cells (TCM cells) and effector memory T cells (TEM cells). Memory cells may be either CD4+ or CD8+. Memory T cells typically express the cell surface protein CD45RO
