Is it possible that creationism and evolution are both correct

with only a few mutation-induced deviations. Also, most genetic variation that drives evolution is caused by genetic drift, not mutations. Even if all mutations were stopped tomorrow, evolution would still continue.......

So purely from the evidence do you think that evolution and creationism are both correct. Although not biblical creationism and not Darwinian evolution.

Tl;dr I think it's entirely possible that a higher being created all of this. Why couldn't evolution be one of his ways of making the world?

There are a few things wrong with your argument:

* It is entirely "possible" that God and evolution are both real. There is, however, no actual credible evidence for God, so there is no legitimate reason to incorporate him into the theory. If evolution alone (which is supported by evidence) can do the job, there is no need for God, so unless there is an actual reason to believe he exists.

* Your argument that similarities are "evidence of design" doesn't make sense. If mutations were responsible for changes in species, then you would expect most species to have more or less the same DNA as each other, with only a few mutation-induced deviations. Also, most genetic variation that drives evolution is caused by genetic drift, not mutations. Even if all mutations were stopped tomorrow, evolution would still continue.

* You claim that "The fossil record clearly shows mostly stasis and then sudden change. " This is not true. Even the fastest change in the fossil record still takes place over millions of years.

So no, I don't consider this acceptable evidence that God has a role in the evolutionary process.

You're simply rehashing arguments presented by advocates of Intelligent Design (thinly veiled creationism).

Creationism is a common concept found in many religions. Which "form" of creationism has precedence? Not all forms of creationism are compatible.

I agree with Stephen Jay Gould's proposition of N.O.M.A., in that, religion and science occupy separate realms of understanding. Science makes empirical observations of the natural, material world and religion explains the supernatural and virtue - these realms should not overlap.

Earth scientists may not be that far away from creating universes. So it's entirely possible that our own particular universe was created by scientists with technology and knowledge not much more advanced than ours.

-
Absolutely...with new laws of quantum mechanics being discovered it sometimes seems to be more likely that our universe was created.

@Gail...haha we are a LOOOONG ways off from being able to do that.

Both ism's are scientifically proven to be true, so I don't see why not.
