Which 3 atoms must be removed when combining any two organic molecules

which of these molecules are nonpolar:

Hey! Before I answer your question, I'd just like to thank you for following and being a fan, ahah.

Anyways, whenever you combine two monomers (building blocks of organic molecules) to create a polymer (2+ monomers) a special process must take place: dehydration synthesis or condensation reaction.

In dehydration synthesis or a condensation reaction, a molecule of H2O (water) is a byproduct. Thus, 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom must be removed when combining any two organic molecules!



HOW TO TELL IF A MOLECULE IS POLAR OR NON POLAR, the easy way :D:

There is a trick to doing this. If a molecule has N, O, or S, then the molecule is most probably polar (because they have such high electronegativities). However, if you have two nitrogens or 2 oxygens or 2 sulfurs, then it's obviously non polar because the electronegativites (tendency to gain electrons) are the same.

So, COOH and N2 are non polar, whereas a molecule like H20 is polar!

Ok, think a polar molecule as one which is balanced, so if you draw it in a structural form is it symmetrical? N2 for example will just be N-N, and is symmetrical down the middle so it's polar, COOH however, if you draw it will not be symmetrical so it's non-polar...
