1. It is known that making 1 lb of honey requires 20,000 trips by bees to flowers to gather nectar. How many pounds of honey would 55,000 trips produce?

2. A particular hybrid car travels approx 260 mi on 5 gal of gas. Find the amount of gas required for a 780-mi trip. pls type an integer or decimal. pls show work.

3. To determine the number of deer in a game preserve, a conservationist catches 580 deer, tags them and lets them loose. Later, 320 deer are caught; 160 of them are tagged. how many deer are in the preserve? pls show work.

I really don't like problem solving, pls help me on these? lols thanks!

1/20,000 = x/55,000

55,000/20,000 = 2.75 lbs

-----

260/5 = 780/x

(780 * 5) / 260 = x => x = 15 Gallons

-----

160/320 = 580/x

(320 * 580) / 160 = 1,160 Deer

1.
1 trip produces 1/(20000) lb of honey.
55000 trips will produce [1/(20000)]*55000 lb of honey=2.75lb of honey
2.
1mi requires 5/260 gal of gas,
780 mi will require (5/260)*780 gal of gas = 15 gal of gas
3.
580 deers are already tagged.
When 320 are caught, some have already been tagged.
Therefore extra tagged ones are =160
Hence total deer are= 580+160=740 deer.

The easiest way to do it would be to cross multiply

1) If
1 lb----->20,000 trips
x ------> 55,000 trips

Multiply 1 lb times 55,000 and divide by 20,000

=2.75 lbs

2) If
260 mi----> 5 gal
780 mi-----> x

Cross multiply
780 mi times 5 gal divided by 260 mi
=15 gal

3) 160/320 = 580/x

(320 times 580) / 160 = 1,160 deer

-
1) 2.5

2)1.5

7800*5=3900/2600=1.5

-
1) 5.5/2 = 2.75 lb
2)780/260 = 3
15 gal
